Leveraging GIS in the Modernization of Official Statistics
Linda Peters - ESRI
Official statistical agencies are faced with many challenges today. Agencies are being asked to do more with less – while continuing to provide authoritative accurate data in a timely manner. They face key issues such as the increased need for disaggregation at the sub-national level, as well as the safeguarding of privacy and security of data. We see also significant increase in data requirements because of wider scope and increased demand from agencies, academia and citizens alike. This talk will provide an overview of how GIS can be used to modernize traditional statistical workflows from pre-enumeration planning to field data collection through to dissemination.
